What is the display name?

The display name is the name we assign to your WhatsApp line, which will be reviewed by the Facebook team and may be approved or rejected.

The requested name should be related to your business and should not violate the WhatsApp commerce policy. Below, we'll share a few tips to help make sure your name will be approved by Facebook:

  • Use capital letters in a grammatically correct way and don't use block caps, except for acronyms. Ex:
    Not approved: SiReNa, SIRENA
    Approved: Sirena

  • Don't include emojis: Ex:

    Not approved: Sirena 🧜‍♀️
    Approved: Sirena

  • The name must be a minimum of three characters long. Ex:
    Not approved: SRN
    Approved: SRN app

Additionally, in our experience, Facebook is likely to reject the name if it has any of the following characteristics:

  • The full name of a person or employee of the company.

  • A generic name, for example, "clothes."

  • Geographic location, such as "Argentina."

  • A slogan or long description.

It should align with the external brand

The name for your line should have coherent branding with external sources, mainly your website. For example, for a product line called "Fresh Caribbean Seafood":

Approved name: Fresh Caribbean Seafood

Rejected name: Fresh Seafood (without the "Caribbean" part)

It should show a clear connection to your business

The name should have a very clear connection to your business (it should be referred to on your website or other external mediums). Facebook is primarily focused on the section that says "All rights reserved to..." on the website, and the legal name to confirm the connection between the requested name and the business.

What happens if the name I want is completely different from my company's legal name?

In that case, it will be very difficult to get the name approved, but it is not impossible.

A simple, quick solution is to get a name approved by Facebook that is directly linked to your business name, and add more information about your project/company with the new name in the image or description. You can also add the new name and add "by" followed by the name of your business, allowing you to get the name you want approved by Facebook.

Another, less complex solution is to create a new Business Manager with the name of the sub-brand/product/project. This option is generally used by business that work as agencies for other brands. To do this, it is important that the new Business Manager be verified.

If you want to change the name of your line, it is important that you keep the above points in mind. Once you have a name that follows those guidelines, don't hesitate to contact our support team to make the change.
